Parish Announcements                               
  • Anyone wishing Memorial Flowers for Father's Day is asked to contact Margot Lutes (530-5878) by June 9th. Cheques are to be made payable to St.  James' Flower Fund.
  • ACW Bakeless Bake Sale: Please put your desired donation amount in an envelope and drop it off at the parish office or directly to Elizabeth Spinney (543-1961). If you wish your donation to be tax deductible, please include your church envelope number on the outside. Cheques are to be made out to St. James' ACW. Last chance for donations is May 12. 
  • St. James’ Scholarships are available for students of the parish entering postsecondary education. Please call the office for an application. The deadline for applications is May 15.
  • On Sunday, May 26, at 4:00 pm, the Trillium trio (Tricia Snell on flute and vocals, Bev Shaw on violin, and Liam Britten on guitar, banjo, mandolin, and cello) will offer a concert at St. James’ to benefit Spark!, which provides grants to children and youth in Lunenburg County to support the costs of participation in the arts. They will be joined by some talented young musicians.

Community Events
  • On Friday, May 10, at 7:00 pm, St. James’ will host Infinitely More, a folk/gospel duo from Ontario, on their 15th anniversary tour. We enjoyed this GMA Covenant Award-winning pair in 2022. Admission is by free-will offering. 
  • The South Shore Chorale will present its spring concert, Songs of Light and Hope, on Saturday, May 11, 2:00 pm, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bridgewater, and on Sunday, May 12, 2:00 pm, at Central United Church in Lunenburg. Several people from St. James’ sing in the choir and it promises to be a good concert! 
  • On Saturday June 1st at 2 pm, Musique Royale is thrilled to be welcoming composer and violinist/violist Matthias McIntire to perform a Cookie Concert at the Lunenburg School of the Arts. The hour-long concert will include hearing his very own dazzling piece for violin and electronics, as well as a handful of his other original works for violin and viola. Come to hear the composer live, and stay for fiddling music, Brazilian choro music, unaccompanied Bach, and more. Tickets are $5 at the door, and kids 4 years and younger are free.   • St. John’s Anglican Church in Lunenburg is hosting a Community Choral Sing in memory of Mike Zinck on Sunday, June 2 at 2 pm. Mike was a dedicated member of the community, touching the hearts of countless families as director of Dana L. Sweeney’s Funeral Home until his passing earlier this year. Participation is open to any youth and adult chorister who loves to sing and wishes to participate. Reading music is an asset but not required.   • On Sunday, June 9, at approximately 12:00 pm, St. John's Anglican Church in Lunenburg is hosting a workshop titled Tackling Tough Conversations: Understanding & Transforming Interpersonal Conflict. Led by Susan Barthos, this workshop will explore methods of communicating in various forms of conflict, and is open to all.   • Sunday Brunch at the Mahone Bay Legion is held on the last Sunday of each month from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm. No reservations required. Adults are $13; children 12 and under are $7; ages 5 and under are free.
Recurring Events and Information
  • Patti will be in the office on Tuesdays from 9:30 – 11:30 am and at The Barn on Fridays from 1:00 – 3:00 pm.
  • The Prayer Beads group meets on the first and fourth Wednesdays of the month at 7:00 pm in the church. Come and discover a new way to pray. 
  • Food Bank Sunday is the first Sunday of the month! Please place donations in the basket at the back of the church or items may be dropped off at the office during office hours. Items they can always use more of include Cheez Whiz, canned milk, boxed macaroni and cheese, jam and jelly, canned fruit, and canned meat. 
  • Join the Church Boys' League (CBL) on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 6:30 pm in the parish hall. Any questions, please call Tom Ernst at 624-6133. If you'd like to donate bottles to the CBL's ongoing fund drive, you can drop them off at the garage doors beside the Parish Hall.
  • Anyone wishing to have an afternoon out, enjoy a cup of tea etc. please feel free to join the knitters between 1:00 – 3:30 pm on Wednesdays. They will make you most welcome!
  • We have a Prayer Chain in the parish. If you would like prayers for yourself, or a friend, please call the office.
  • Pre-Authorized Remittance (PAR) is a way of giving your weekly offerings by automatic monthly deductions on your credit card or from your bank account. If you are interested, information and forms are available at the back of the church. You can also contact Debbie Smeltzer, or find the information on the diocesan website. 
  • Memorial donations may be made by mailing or dropping off cheques payable to St. James' In Memoriam Fund to the office.
