Please Note; New Covid Protocols for Church -Once you are seated you can remove your mask. Please wear your mask when moving around the building. Hand sanitizing is no longer required, but is available if you wish. The collection plate remains at the door for your convenience. It will be brought up to the altar during the service.

Sunday of the Passion
(Palm Sunday) (April 2)

Maundy Thursday
7 p.m. Eucharist with stripping of the Altar (St. James’)
Good Friday Inter-church Service (Trinity United) 10 a.m.
2 p.m. Interactive Stations of the Cross (for children, youth, and adults, start at St. James’ parish hall)—different stations with Scripture passages and activities will take us through the story from Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem to the cross and tomb.
Holy Saturday 8 p.m. Great Vigil of Easter with celebration of the new fire and baptism (St. James’)—this ancient Easter liturgy begins in darkness and moves toward the light of the resurrection, culminating in the first eucharist of Easter.
Sunday of the Resurrection (Easter Day)
8 a.m. Eucharist (St. James’)
9:15 a.m. Eucharist (Christ Church)

Patti will be in the office on Tuesday from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. Patti will be at The Barn from 1-3 p.m. on Friday, 31 March. Please drop in for coffee and a chat.
Food Bank Sunday is the 1st Sunday of the month! Please place donations in the basket at the back of the church or items may be dropped off at the office during office hours. Items they can always use more of; Cheez Whiz, Can Milk, Mac & Cheese, Jam – Jelly, Canned Fruit, Flakes of ham, chicken, etc.
There will be no Prayer Beads group during Lent.
Coffee Hour is the 2nd Sunday of the month after the 11 a.m. service, in the parish hall. (No coffee hour in April)
We invite everyone to mark their Lenten journey by participating in one of our Lenten programs. Our final session of contemplative prayer will be meditation on the stations of the cross (March 30, 6:30 pm). The books finally arrived and we will begin the study this week (29 March,Wednesday 6:30 and 30 March,Thursday at 1).
Anyone who would like to participate in a dramatic reading of the Passion story next week should let Patti know. There are parts of all sizes and people of any age are welcome. We will have a rehearsal on Saturday, April 1.
Anyone wishing Memorial Flowers for Easter, please contact Margot Lutes (902-530-5878) by Sunday 2 April. Cheques are made payable to St. James Flower Fund.
Sunday, 2 April 11 a.m., for the Liturgy of the Palms, we will have an outdoor procession, weather permitting.

Patti is looking for volunteers to help with the stations.
The ACW will not meet in April.

Registration is open for Setting Sail: Vital Church Maritimes 2023. This diocesan conference takes place in Truro (+Zoom option) April 27-29. The Prayer Beads group meets on the first and Fourth Wednesday of the month, at 7 p.m. in the church. Come and discover a new way to pray. (not meeting during Lent)
Anyone wishing to have an afternoon out, enjoy a cup of tea etc. please feel free to join the knitters between 1-3:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. They will make you most welcome!
We have a Prayer Chain in the parish. If you would like prayers for yourself, or a friend, please call the office.
Pre-Authorized Remittance (PAR) is a way of giving your weekly offerings by automatic monthly deductions on your credit card or from your bank account. If you are interested, there is information and forms at the back of the church or see Debbie Smeltzer. FYI - Over the years the following contributions have been given to St James Parish by St. James CBL. Mainly due to money raised through bottle drives and donations.
1. $1500.00 for the first hall addition
2. $2500.00 for the second hall addition
3. $10,000.00 to steeple fund
4. Substantial donation to kitchen
5. New flagpole in front of rectory
6. One of the defibrillators in the parish
7. Several donations to other parish projects
8. Supporting youth in our parish
9. Supporting other organizations outside the parish (approx. 30) over the past years If anyone donates bottles to CBL, it will help us continue to support future activities.

“The Missing Pages” is the true story of the one Canadian to actually meet Beethoven in person. Tom Allen has been with the CBC for years as host on Music & Company, Fresh Air, This Morning and more. Tom has also been touring a type of show he calls “chamber musicals” –a blend of theatrical storytelling, humor, drama and music—which he creates from little-known facts about the music world.
